Le Storie di Botticelli
tra Boston e Bergamo

Storie di Lucrezia - Stewart Gardner Museum di Boston - Botticelli
Story of Lucrezia (dettaglio) di Sandro Botticelli, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum di Boston

12.10.2018 – 28.01.2019
in Accademia Carrara

Two paintings on wood of significant size, made by Sandro Botticelli (Florence 1445-1510), one of the best-loved artists of the Renaissance, become exceptional companion pieces, forming an inextricable bond between the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston.

The twists and turns of history have brought to Bergamo and Boston The Story of Virginia (1500-10) and The Story of Lucretia, by the Florentine painter universally celebrated for his interpretation of his age, which spanned from the height of splendour of the Medici court through to its crisis and decline.
