Creating an open dialogue between ancient and contemporary art, between various forms of expression, and between reflections on space and function, the Ugo La Pietra exhibition offers visitors a chance not only to examine one of the most distinctive figures of our time, but also to see the great Carrara collection in a new light, in its interaction with four installations and a special project. There are three historical works and one new work made specially for the exhibition in Bergamo, directly relating to Jacopo di Antonello’s The Madonna and Child, as well as an interactive installation dedicated to the local population.

The project is rounded off with an audio-visual section at GAMeC, with four historic films from the 1970s and a documentary entitled Ugo La Pietra. Progetto disequilibrante by Lucio La Pietra, devoted to the exhibition at the Triennale di Milano in 2014/2015.

In the galleries on the first floor of the Accademia Carrara, with masterpieces of Italian and international art of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, La Pietra shows four installations that interact directly with the museum’s spaces and works, using art forms that range from drawings to ceramics and glass.
