The Gruppo Guide dell’Accademia Carrara (the group of Accademia Carrara guides), which later became an Association, has promoted educational activities and knowledge of the Museum since 1975. All the members of the Association are trained and selected with a special qualification test by the Museum management (1975, 1983 and 2005) and help promote knowledge of the collection through a range of educational projects for various types of audience (schools and universities, libraries, organised groups and individual visitors) paying close attention to the needs of multiculturalism and persons with disabilities.

The Association has always used its skills to keep the relationship between the people of Bergamo and the Museum alive. Attention to the cultural and artistic education of young people is accompanied by work to inform adults and keep them up to date.

The relationship with schools has always been key, and the Association carries out teaching work and puts on workshops for students of all ages. Particular attention is given to in-depth analyses and workshops for families, persons with disabilities, and cultural mediation. The Association also works around the province with the collaboration of various cultural institutions and brings out publications to raise awareness about the artistic heritage of the museum and of the province itself. The Association has always worked with the Accademia Carrara, also during temporary exhibitions put on by the institution, with thematic tours, creating educational tools for teaching and in-depth analyses, cultural events and conferences for adults.
