TAROCCHI
The Origins, the Cards, and their Fortune
A long-awaited project: the most important-ever reunion of the Colleoni tarot deck, shared among the Accademia Carrara, the Morgan Library in New York, and a private collection in Bergamo.
On display is the exceptional opportunity to see all 74 cards created by Bonifacio Bembo and Antonio Cicognara together, alongside a detailed study of their history, examining the patrons, artists, captivating decorations, and execution techniques—enhanced by recent scientific analyses.
The exhibition will also trace the history of tarot over six centuries: from its origins in the early 15th century to the present day, thanks to extraordinary loans from national and international collections. Born as an aristocratic game and pastime, tarot cards became popular entertainment for all with the advent of printing and later evolved into a tool for divination, achieving remarkable popularity.
